Thedeputy governor of Kwara state and chairman technical committee on Covid-19, Mr. Kayode Alabi made this known yesterday at his office.

Thisdecision is as a result of two cases of Covid-19 coronavirus cases that was discovered in the course of the week, in addition it is a move to prevent further spread of the deadly virus.

The total lockdown that starts from 6pm of Friday will prevent movements of vehicles, either private or public within and outside the state and also shop owners and market places.

However, the government grant permit essential commodities such as food items and drugs to operate within certain hours. Foodstuff sellers and medicinal shop owners are permitted to operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 10 o’clock in the morning and 2 o’clock in the afternoon.

You will recall that the state has in the middle of last month prevent movements in and out of the state, which was hoped to prevent the entry of the virus into the state, but it seems that is not enough to prevent it.

Alabi however expressed his gratitude to the federal government for the support given to the state’s technical committee on Covid-19. He also urge all residents of the state not to panic but to adhere strictly to the laid down safety measures.
