Coronavirus since first case in 2019 has travelled all over the world with about 1,518,518 confirmed cases and 88,495 deaths globally.

Several researches had been carried out to acquire more knowledge about the deadly virus and produce a vaccine. Although, there is no vaccine for the virus as at this moment, yet progress has been made by researchers in preventing the spread.

How is it spread?

Coronavirus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
Also, if such droplets lands on a surface and you touch it and take the hand to your face, you are in a high risk of having the virus because you might have mistakenly inhaled and ingested it. In other words, touching of contaminated surface is another mode of transmission.

How long can it last outside?

According to WHO, it is not certain how long the virus can survive outside a living host. But like other similar viruses, it is believed to survive for several hours or days on surfaces.

Preventive Measures.

Since this virus is spread by droplets of saliva, it is henceforth important that you also practice respiratory etiquette for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow, disposing used handkerchief, using nose covers, and so on.

Also, it is important to avoid social gathering and crowded places so as to prevent contacts with infested person or surface. Maintain a distance of about one and half meters to the next person, it is also important to use face masks and protective gloves.

Hand washing is another important method of preventing the virus because you might have unknowingly touched a contaminated surface. So, wash your hands regularly with soap and water (preferably hot water), for at least 20 seconds and make enough foams to help destroy the virus.
After every contact with someone whose Covid-19 status is unknown, wash your hand with alcohol based hand sanitizer if there is no soap.

Prevention, they say is better than cure. It is better to prevent the spread as there is no cure for the virus for now. Therefore, follow the laid down rules and regulations in prevention the spread. Stay safe, stay healthy and prevent the spread.
