COVID-19 Patients benefit #4500 for meal each day in Bauchi state, says Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed.
Since the outbreak of corona virus in Bachi State on May 15, 2020 which the patient happened to be staff of World Health Organization (WHO) by name Dr Haruna Ismaila Adamu who tested positive to covid-19 after a direct contact from a patient in Kano State.
With the rising index cases in the state, the Governor of Bachi State Bala Mohammed gave the directive to ensure that all the COVID-19 patients in the state should be well fed.
According to the head of the committee on contact tracing and Chairman, Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA) in the state, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed.
Currently, Bauchi has 232 confirmed cases of COVID-19; 164 had been discharged, five died, while 63 remain active at press time.
The idea was to make sure that the patients on admission feel more at home and avoid a protest or revolt like it happened in some states, he added.
“It was the state governor that ordered us to put N1,500 per meal. That is, N1,500 meal at breakfast, the same amount for lunch and dinner, because he doesn’t want anybody in isolation to suffer or complain, so that we won’t have any riot like in some states.
This brings the total amount of money on meal per day to N4,500 for a patient,” said the chairman.
He when further to urged the people of the state to always adhere to the preventive measures as advised by the government and health experts, to contain the virus.
