The incumbent governor of Edo state, Mr. Godwin Obaseki said no man can stop his re-election if it’s destined by God.
In the battle for the power of Edo state in this coming election, the incumbent governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his counter part Mr. Osagie Ize-Iyamu both from the ruling party, APC, picked their nomination for yesterday at Abuja.
With this, the battle of whom to take over the mantle of leadership of the state in the coming general election has begun as the duo prepare for their primaries.
A group called Obaseki Mandate Forum in Federal Capital Territory (FCT), purchased the nomination form for him ahead of the June 22 primary, while Ize-Iyamu, a former Secretary to Edo State Government, picked his at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
Obaseki has however expressed his confidence saying no man can stop his re-election, adding that only God gives power and only he can take it.
He made this statement while featuring yesterday on Channels Television‘s Sunrise Daily, where he said:
“I am not a violent person. But I am confident that the way I got into power is the same way I will return.
“God gave me power. If he wants me to return I will continue. No man can stop me. Power comes from God.”
Speaking further, the governor denied the fact that his ambition to return as governor would be hindered by inadequate “resources.”
“I have friends with resources. I worked for eight years behind the scene before I became governor.” He said.
This day reported that a group called Obaseki Mandate Forum in Federal Capital Territory (FCT) purchased the nomination form for the Governor.
Addressing journalists after purchasing the form at the national secretariat of the party yesterday in Abuja, the Chairman of the forum, Chief Nathaniel Momoh, said the action was a demonstration of the support and acceptability of majority of Edo State people towards the re-election of Obaseki.

He added that the form was a sign that the will of the people would prevail by ensuring that plots for the imposition of any candidate did not materialise.
It is of note that their has been crisis within the APC party in Edo state which has proven all efforts to resolve it as abortive.
This crisis has since factionalized the ruling party in the states with a faction in support of the state’s governor, Godwin Obaseki and the other faction in support of the National President, Adams Oshiomole.
