Osun gives guidelines for burials during COVID-19 Pandemic

The government of Osun state gives guidelines for burials during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As parts of the efforts taken by the government of Osun state in containing the spread of the coronavirus disease.

The leadership of the state under Gov. Adegboyega Oyetola has released safe protocols that must be followed for burials that will be held during this pandemic time.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government of Osun, Prince Wole Oyebamiji and released to the press.

In the guidelines, the state mandated that no burial should recorded more than 20 persons in attendance whom must each use nose mask.

In addition, the relatives of the deceased are to provide alcohol based hand sanitizer for washing of hands at the venue of the funeral without neglecting the social distancing directives.

Speaking further, the governor through the Secretary said the nearest Divisional Police Officer (DPO) should be notified of the time, date and venue of the burial.

Woke Oyebamiji added that the burial should hold under the watch of the Disease Surveillance and Notification Officer ( DSNO) from the Local Government where the burial will hold.

Furthermore, the family of the deceased must write an application letter which must be accompanied by a death certificate issued by a government hospital or a letter from the Ministry of Health, signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, State of Osun.

The letter must state the following; the deceased’s last address, cause of death, and a pledge by the family to abide by and follow the standard regulations set to guide against COVID-19 pandemic.

Oyebamiji promised that the state will not pardon any family that goes against this rules.
