Governor Godwin Obaseki warns Oshiomole to stay off Edo state primary election, denies secretly obtaining PDP nomination form, also said 4 years is not enough for him.

Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki has warned the National President of the ruling party,All progressive Congress, to stay completely off the Edo state primary election.

Obaseki said this on Wednesday while returning his nomination form to the party’s National Organizing Secretary of the party, Emma Ibediro.

The governor also denied secretly obtaining the nomination and expression of interest forms of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP following his face-off with Comrade Oshiomhole.

He moreso asked the national chairman of the party, Comerade Adams Oshiomole to steer clear of the electioneering process of the June 22 primary elections.

Adding that he, Oshiomole has personal interest in the election and thus “can not sit in judgement over his own case.”

“However, I am using this opportunity to call on Comrade Oshiomhole to recuse himself from the Edo nomination process because he is an interested party. It is against natural justice for a man to be a judge in his own case. So I think the honourable thing to do is to recuse himself and let us have a free process and let us reconcile and build our party”.

First, he denied betraying the party’s chairman and further accusing him of being the one who betrayed the cause and all his (Obaseki) sacrifices for him (Oshiomole).

Four years not enough for me.

Having warned Comerade Oshiomole to steer off the election, Godwin Obaseki went ahead to explain why he is so desirous of his re-election.

He explained that four years is not enough to accomplish his goals as the governor of the state, as he is part of a reformist party.

“Three years is not enough, four years is not enough to crystalize all these reforms. So, another four years will give me that opportunity to consolidate on what we have done and that is the promise of APC. We are a reformist party, we are a progressive party. That is why I am here today to indicate my interest and my desire to run for another term as governor of Edo so that I can continue in the service of my people”.

The governor however said he would pick the party’s ticket irrespective of the method adopted in electing the candidate.

He also said he will win wether a direct primary is conducted or not.

Furthermore, Obaseki said the party’s constitution is very detailed about the process and conduct of elections and as thus must prevail.

Meanwhile, Obaseki explained why he with other 7 APC governors visited Asiwaju Tinubu.
