Kogi bank robbery: Gov Bello directs security agencies to apprehend the culprits

Gov Bello directs security agencies to apprehend the culprits responsible for Kogi bank robbery attack, says state won’t accommodate criminal.

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State on Thursday directed security agencies in the state to immediately go after and ensure that all the criminal elements who participated in the Thursday Isanlu Bank robbery are arrested.

Governor Bello gave this directive in a statement released in Lokoja the state capital by his chief press secretary, Onogwu Muhammed.

Remember that on Thursday, a gang of heavily armed robbers stormed Isanlu in Kogi State and attacked a police station as well as first bank branch in the area leaving nine officers including a civilian dead.

According to thenigerianpost, while condoling with the families of those who lost their loved ones in the unfortunate incident, he described it as unacceptable, dastardly and cowardly, imploring security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators.

He also charged residents of the state to continue to assist security operatives by providing useful information to help fight crime in the state.

He said the state’s hospitality should not be taken as a license and gateway for criminal activities assuring the people of the state that his government will continue to protect their lives and properties.

“Our open arms is no invitation to criminals. Our first responsibility as a government is to ensure the security of lives and property in the state. Bank robbery was a recurrence decimal in Kogi state before the current administration. Together with all security agencies in the state, we ended the regime of this form of crime since 2017, we will not allow this to reverse the gains we have recorded in protecting lives and property of our people”.

He said.

Kogi State has experienced undisturbed criminal activities in recent time since the assumption of his administration a stride he has attributed to various strategies the government has put in place to fight crime.

He therefore advised security agencies to strengthen surveillance and intelligence gatherings that could lead the the arrest of the criminals.
