Obaseki, 7 APC Governors Meet Tinubu Ahead Edo Election

Governor Obaseki with 7 other APC governors meet with Tinubu ahead Edo state election.

The governor of Edo state and the governorship candidate of Edo state governorship election has together with 7 other APC governors has met with the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Hammed Tinubu.

Vanguard reported that Obaseki, accompanied by 7 other governors elected under the umbrella of All Progressive Congress, APC held a closed door meeting with the party leader, Asiwaju Tinubu.

Among the governors who were with him are the chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, who also doubles as the Governor of Kebbi state, Gov. Atiku Bagudu, also, the governor of Ondo State, Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu.

Also, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos was present with governor Abdullahi Ganduje who is the governor of Kano state, among others.

Though the details of the meeting were not disclosed, it was gathered that the embattled governor of Edo State, Gov. Obaseki, approached Tinubu to prevail on his estranged godfather, Adams Oshiomhole, the national chairman of the APC, to allow him to secure a second term.

Recall that Nigerian News World already reported that Obaseki has obtained his return ticket ahead the primary election coming soon.

Also, it was reported that Obaseki and the party national president, Adams Oshiomhole have been at loggerheads over the second term ambition of the governor leading to the division of the APC in Edo.

While the faction loyal to Obaseki wants indirect governorship primary, the other faction loyal to Oshiomhole is for direct primary and announced by the National Working Committee of the APC.

In our earlier report, we also confirmed that Obaseki and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who recently returned to the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which he flew its governorship flag in 2016, have bought the APC nomination form.

Moreso, SaharaReporters reported that seven governorship aspirants, last week stepped down for Ize-Iyamu “after an intense horse-trading midwife by Oshiomhole-led party stalwarts” in Abuja.

Nigerian News World has earlier reported that the party’s primary election will take place in Edo state on the 22nd of June this year.
