Don’t be sentimental in chosing local government representatives, called Ajibola Famurewa as local government elections approach.
As the Osun state local government elections approach, the chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, has called on the citizens of the state to do away with sentiments when chosing their representatives.
The newly appointed SUBEB chairman, Ajibola Famurewa gave this advice while receiving cabinet members from the Odo Otin federal constituency.
He called on citizens to carefully screen and verify their aspirants before making their decision in chosing whom they prefer.
“As the election for Local Government Chairmen and Councillors is fast approaching, we must be very careful in selecting the right candidates. Let us not take anything for granted.”
Emphasising the need for thorough screening, the former member of Osun state house of assembly reminded the citizens of the state that the local government chairmen and the councilors are the closest to the people.
Hence, the need to chose whom they have trust in, and who they are sure will represent them effectively, he said;
“the calibre of people that should be elected are those who can add value to the system. We all must resist the temptation to be sentimental in choosing our representatives at the local government level because they are the closest to us. ”
The SUBEB boss further admonished the party leaders of each local government to present credible aspirants, stating that the choice of candidate will direct impact on the said election.
