– The legal icon flawed the Federal government’s decision to cancel WASSCE, arguing that the students are loosing an integral part of their life.
Following the Federal government’s decision to blin the final year secondary students from writing the 2020 WASSCE examination, a renowned legal icon and an educationist, prof. Afe Babalola has flawed the decision.
Prof. Babalola, in his Tuesday’s statement, viewed this decision as an insubstantial waste of an academic year as well as an integral part of the students’ life.
“If the Federal Government insists that there would be no WASSCE this year, the students are not just losing one calendar year, but losing an integral part of their entire lives which is gone forever by such declaration. We should always remember that after all, ‘time is life and life is time’.” He said.
The well known scholar thereby called on the Buhari-led administration to allow for the participation of Nigeria students in the said examination.
He further recommended, as an alternative to the cancelation, the students to write the examinations within their halls to ensure a strict compliance of the COVID-19 preventive measures.
