– The chairman of APC in Obi ward of Nasarawa state was allegedly caught raping two girls in his home.
One Christopher Ogah, identified as the APC Chairman of Obi ward in Obi local government of Nasarawa has been caught in a rape act that involving two young girls.
The suspects was caught in the act of defiling two young girls of 12 and 13 years of age respectively.
In a report by Daily Trust, an eyewitness said the politician lured the girls to his room when they entered his residence to fetch water from a well.
Chairman of the local government, Alhaji Mohammad Oyimoga Oyigye confirmed the incident and also disclosed that he saved the suspect from being lynched by angry youths.
Oyigye said the suspect who was handed over to the police, was transferred to Lafia to forestall breakdown of peace in the area.
Confirming the incident, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Mr Bola Longe said he has directed the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia to conduct their investigation before the suspect is charged.
Speaking further, he also said that his team of police officers are warning potential rapists of the heinous deed or they’ll have to face the wrath of the law.
He therefore assured the public of the relentless effort put in place by the police force o protect their citizens, he said;
“I am assuring the public of the police command’s commitment to arrest and prosecute anyone found wanting no matter how highly placed.”
Recall that the rate at which rape crimes are being confirmed in this last 3 months is alarming. However, with the peace of this past few weeks of no rape case report, it felt like the efforts of the government has curb the barbaric acts until now, by a leading politician which until proven otherwise, still remain monstrous.
