APC Sacked Chairman, Secretary in Niger

Another episode of the All Progressive Congress (APC) crisis played out in Niger state on Tuesday as the party showed the way home for the chairman ad his secretary in the state.

The decision followed a meeting by the party’s state executives committee and the local government at the Haske hotel.

Presentat the meeting were about 27 out of the 33 members of the state executives committee, 22 out of the 25 APC local government chairmen and 25 secretaries.

Asideremoving the chairman, Engineer Jibrin Imam and the secretary, Alhaji Mohammed Liman, the Niger state APC also deemed the treasurer, Dr Shafi Abdusalami, incapacitated as they never wasted time before kicking him out of his office.

Themeeting that saw to the removal of the said executives and presided by the state’s APC deputy chairman, Alhaji Ali Kapenter decided to replace he state’s chairman with one Alhaji Aliyu Said Galkogo.

Furthermore, the secretarial seat was immediately taken by the assistant state youth leader, Sulaiman Abdullahi, while Saidu Madaki from wushi local government replaced the treasurer.

However, the decision didn’t go well with the removed chairman, Engineer Jibrin Imam as he described their decision as “jokes” and illegal arguing that “they have no legal right to take such action.”

It would the recalled that the Niger state APC had be in political turbulent for over a month now, accusing the removed executives of financial misappropriation, abuse of office and inability to account for over N872 million generated in the past between 2014 to 2019.

Thecrisis had gotten to an extent where the removed chairman was detained by the police over the alleged offences and was released on bail.

Accordingto The Nation, Engr. Jubrin refuse to accept the party’s decision as he had described them as “Jokers”, claiming they do note possess the legal right to take such critical decision and hence, he still remains the party’s chairman.
