– Federal Government of Nigeria revert it’s decision to reopen schools for graduating students, postpone WASSCE indefinitely.

– No plans to reopen schools anytime soon.

The Buhari-led Government had turned back in it’s plans to reopen schools for the graduating students and conduct their appropriate final year examinations.

The plan was to open schools for final year student of primary and secondary schools to allow them write their examinations while plans to allow for the resumption of other students will be under review.

However, the minister of education, Mallam Adamu Adamu today announced this new development at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting which was presided by President Buhari.

Adamu also disclosed that 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, has been postponed indefinitely.

He connected the reason for the postponement to the spread of the Coronavirus disease in the country.

The minister also added that there’s no plans or intentions yet for the resumption of Nigerian schools until it is safe for resumption.

He also added that he prefer students to lose an academic year than exposing them to dangers.

Meanwhile, Lagos State governor had begun preparations for safe resumption of final year schools students in the state ahead August 3 when they will resume.

The state is this left with no other option than to go back on it preparations and focus on curtailing the spread of the virus.
