– Ondo state Commisioner for health died of COVID-19 disease
– He died briefly after receiving his test result that confirmed he is positive of the virus.
It is an heartbreaking event for the people of Ondo state and the family of Dr. Wahab Adegbenro as they loss him to the cold hand of death.
Dr. Adegbenro, the Commisioner for health of Ondo state until his death, died few hours after receiving his test result that confirmed he is positive of the coronavirus disease.
He was confirmed positive of the virus earlier on Thursday and was reported to have been receiving treatment.
However, the death of the Commisioner was a short to the residents of Ondo state in general.
Describing the deceased, the Ondo state governor, Arakunrin Akeredolu said he was a “reliable colleague and compatriot.”

The governor further described the deceased as a calm person with a strong dedication toward caring for others.
“His calmness and dedication towards caring for everybody was loved by all. He will be sorely missed. My heartfelt condolences to his family.” He said.
He however expressed his deep condolences to the family of the deceased.
In his words, the director general of the Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control, NCDC, Chikwe Ihekweazu acknowledged the relentless effort of the late Commisioner in strengthening the response to annual Lassa fever outbreak in Ondo state.
He however added that the Adegbenro will be remembered for his relentless efforts in fighting diseases in Ondo state.
“Very sad to hear of the death of my brother and colleague, Honourable Commissioner @OndoStateHealth Dr. Wahab Adegbenro,” He wrote on his Twitter page.
“We will remember him fondly, especially for his leadership in strengthening Ondo State’s response to annual #Lassafever outbreaks.” he added.
