In effort to curb the community spread of the infectious virus, the Oyetola-led administration of Osun state has banned the elaborate celebration of the yearly traditional worship of the Osun River deities.
The celebration is widely known for promoting social and traditional heritage of the Osun State and reputed for gathering people from all walks of live to explore the beauty of Osun, the state of the living spring.
Governor Oyetola in his message, however permit the quite observance of the traditional rites and routines mandatory to be observed by the worshippers of the ancestral deity.
The governor also allow the entrance of the authorised individuals into the groove where the shrine is located.
It is also important to note that the decision is in compliance with the prohibition of social gathering by the federal government of Nigeria which is part of the efforts to end the COVID-19 pandemic.
