Bag of rice has caused bloodshed in NURTW motor park in Iseyin, Oyo state as customs officer opened fired.
Nigeria News World gathered that an unidentified officer of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) tracing a bag of rice reportedly smuggled to Nigeria has opened fire at an NURTW bus stop in Iseyin which in turn hit one Mr. Lateef Aboki.
According to the branch’s NURTW chairman, the officer who shot the driver was in a mufti and driving a private car when he bagged into the motor park on Friday.
The drivers however asked for identification as he was without a uniform, but instead of identifying himself, he replied with gunshots and in turn shot the NURTW executive in the chest.
The officer was said to have left fled the scene immediately Aboki got hit and his car, a Lexus jeep, was towed to Iseyin Police station by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, for further investigation.
However, it was reported that the victim has been hospitalized in an undisclosed location and responding to treatment.
Addressing the press, the chairman of the park, Lateef Shittu who was away from the park when the incident unraveled narrated how he had to rush to the part when he got a call that a member of his executive was shot by a customs officer in the park.
Mr. Shittu had cald the DPO of Iseyin police command to curb the situation before it’ll go haywire.
The Chairman further confirmed that Aboki is currently responding to treatment in the hospital he was admitted to.
He further asked the customs service to tame their officers in order to prevent this barbaric acts from reoccurring.
