The governor of Kaduna state has come out clean and declared that it is just right for the northerners to give up the quest for the southerners.

Governor El-Rufai in an interview with BBC Hausa earlier on Saturday said the south should produce the next president.

The former minister in the FCT declared he is against the north to have it after the completion of their 8 years tenure by President Buhari.

He clarified that the Nigeria political system is rotational when it comes to presidency and when a region have it for 8 years, another region is meant to take it for another 8 year.

Thus he said since President Buhari has completed the 8 years tenure meant for the north, then northerners should rest and allow the southerners to rule as well.

I do not want the Nigerian presidency

Still speaking at the interview, the governor debunked having interest in being the Nigerian President as being circulated by some people.

He said that the rumor is spreading that he has eye for the presidential seat which is absolutely intrue.

He said: “It has been said that I have loved the presidency since I was a minister in the FCT. This is nonsense. I do not want the Nigerian presidency.”
