The National Association Nigerian Students, NANS, Osun State axis is set to embark on a peaceful protest for the reopening of schools.
The student body is said to embark on a protest for the federal government to safely reopen schools so the student can continue with their academic activities.
Confirming the statement, the student union President of the Osun State College of Education, Ila-Oragun, Comr. Olanrewaju Tajudeen, said in a statement that the NANS Osun State Join Campus Committee has set the ball rolling to see to the success of the protest.
The protest is scheduled to kick off from Olaiya Junction in Osogbo where the students will match off to the governor’s house in Abere, Osogbo, the state capital.
This move follows the successful protest by the National Association of University Student, NAUS, which held was held in Abuja on Wednesday.
The protest however seemed to be yielding a good result as the leadership of NAUS were invited to a meeting by the Federal Ministry of Education.
However, NANS Osun axis wishes to reiterate the compulsory need for those planning to attend the protest to wear their face mask when coming to Osogbo where the campaign is set to kick off.
Recall that all schools in Nigeria has been locked against academic activities since April, shortly after Nigeria recorded her COVID-19 index case.
