Schools Resumption: Lagos to Promote Students Based on Continuous Assessment

The Lagos State government has reached a decision to promote students in the state on the basis of their continuous assessment tests.

The Minister of Education in the state, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo disclosed this in an interview on channels television on Thursday.

According to the minister, the state is yet to reach an agreement on the specific date for the full resumption of schools in the state.

Moreso, the decision to promote the students on the basis of continuous assessment is on applicable to the government-own schools across the state.

Adefisoye also disclosed that the government is working tirelessly to see to an early resumption of students in the state even though there’s no specific date yet.

While clarifying his statement, Mrs. Adefisoye added that the plan will only be effective if the students do not observe the third term.

“There are two scenarios. If we don’t have a third term, it means that we have to push the next session to next year.

“But if the students do not do the third term examination, they will use their CA (continuous assessment),” she said.

Recall that the closure of schools in the state began in March following the federal government’s Directive on recording the index case of COVID-19 disease.

Since then, both private and state owned schools have remained locked down.

Meanwhile, the students in Exiting classes in secondary and primary schools have resumed on the 4th of August and are looking forward to commence their SSCE examination on Monday.
