Supermarkets, Pharmacy Shops, Closed for Non-compliance with COVID-19 Guidelines in Ekiti

The Ekiti State government blew hot in a 2-day marathon inspection of Public offices, market places and pharmacy shops.

The state’s COVID-19 task force has closed down 8 supermarkets, Pharmacy Shops, and club in the process of conducting the inspection.

According to a statement signed by the Coordinator of the Ekiti State COVID-19 Response Taskforce, Prof. Bolaji Aluko, the 8 institutions comprising of 2 supermarkets, 2 Pharmacy shops, a shopping complex among others, were shut as a result of violating the laid down guidelines COVID-19 within the state.

The affected institutions as released by the Ekiti state COVID-19 response Taskforce are;

1. Chino Supermarket, Ikere Road
2. Babatola Shopping Complex, Ikere Road
3. NAO Supermarket, Adebayo Road
4. Beta Life Pharmacy, Adebayo Road
5. Twin Pharmacy, Fajuyi Area
6. Prosperous Club
7. Bana Place

8. Peppersoup Joint opposite Ologede Police Station, beside Queen’s Court, Ado Ekiti.

The Ekiti State COVID-19 Taskforce Compliance Unit conducted a marathon inspection on Friday14th and Saturday 15th August to check for institutions that has failed to go by the laid down rules.

Speaking further, Prof. Aluko re-emphasis the need to comply with the laid down guidelines as it is for the benefit of the people.

Aluko therefore hurged the public to ensure and advise that institutions that serve them obey the simple guidelines of usage of infra-red thermometers, functional water/sanitizer stands, mask-wearing by all staff and patrons, and social distancing within the premises.

He reiterated that Coronavirus disease is still very much active within the state, hence the need to observe those protocols to keep everyone safe.

Meanwhile, the duration of the sanctions is yet to be disclosed by the taskforce.
