The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has denied the claim that the question paper for the ongoing WAEC Examinations for school candidates were leaked.
Responding to the claim that some examination questions were leaked before the commencement of the examination, the head of public affairs for the examination council, Demianus Ojijeogu, on Wednesday refuted the claim and declared it to be false.
The examination council reitariated that the integrity of the ongoing WAEC examinations is still intact as no question has been leaked so far.
WAEC also debunk the misconception of the address by the council chairman, Mr. Patrick Areghan which claimed that he (Areghan) confirmed that questions were leaked.
However, WAEC never fails to acknowledge that some students in conjunction with some bad elements among the supervisors do send questions, even while in the examination hall, to their collaborators outside who in turns solve those questions and send the answer via various media such as, website, sms, whatsapp among others.
WAEC through her spokesman, Ojijeogu therefore implore the supervisors to justify the confidence their respective state ministry of education has in them to recommend them for the supervision and thus shun every form of examination malpractice.
Ojijeogu also revealed that some students were caught violating the rule that prohibits the use mobile phones in the examination hall in some states like, Rivers, Bauchi and Nasarawa states.
He further disclosed that the culprits have been arrested and await prosecution.
The WAEC head of public affairs therefore urged the media to desist from spreading fake and unverified news that are detrimentous to the integrity of the examination council.
Lastly, he reassured the public that the integrity of the ongoing examination is still intact and the examination process has not been compromised.
