Adamawa State Announce October 12 as Resumption Date for Schools

The turn by turn declaration of resumption date for schools by each states in Nigeria has reach Adamawa state as the state government announced Monday, 12th of October, 2020 as resumption date.

The state government, led by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has declared that all schools from the basic to tertiary institutions are free to resume on the said October 12.

Speaking on Thursday through his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, the governor regretted the months wasted on the students during the COVID-19 induced closure.

Like every other states of the federation, all schools in Adamawa state, alongside other economy sectors, were closed in March as a precautionary measures in curbing the spread of the coronavirus disease.

However, as the infectious rate of the respiratory disease keeps declining in Nigeria, some states has begun reopening of various economy sector as well as schools.

Speaking on the resumption date, Governor Fintiri, pledged his determination to leave no stones unturned in enforcing the COVID-19 protocols.

He therefore directed the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development to meet with the concerned stakeholders in designing a strategic plan of resumption ahead the announced date.

Consequently, he directed school managers to ensure full compliance with the COVID-19 preventive protocols, laying more emphasis on the provision for hand washing equipments and compulsory use of face masks.

Fintiri also admonished the parents to take the health of their children or wards as a priority.
