- AFTERMATH OF EDO POLLS: WE HAVE ENDED GODFATHERISM IN EDO POLITICS – Wike Boasts.
Reactions have continued to trail Saturday’s governorship elections in Edo State in which Gov. Obaseki emerged victorious.
One man who played an important role in the victory of Gov Obaseki has lent his voice to the outcome of the polls.
Reacting to the Victory of Gov Obaseki, Gov Nyesom Wike, who was the Chairman of the PDP’s National Campaign Council for Edo Election, said the Electoral victory of Governor Godwin Obaseki has ended godfatherism in Edo State.
In a statement signed by the Rivers State Government’s Commissioner for Information and Communication Paulinus Nsirim and made available to the press, Gov. Wike thanked Obaseki for volunteering to be used to fight for the interest of Edo State. Wike also acknowledged that the people of Edo state vehemently spoke for Gov Obaseki with their votes.
“If for nothing, we have made the point that there is nothing called godfatherism again in Edo State Politics.” the statement read in part.
Recall that, some weeks ago, Gov Nyesom Wike had received his Edo State counterpart, Gov Godwin Obaseki in Port Harcourt, when the latter decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after failing the screening of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Edo state Governorship Committee.
