COVID-19 is not an excuse; Sanwo-olu charges cabinet for good governance

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-olu has charged cabinet members and senior officials for good governance in the state.

The governor made this call while giving the opening speech at the 2-day Ministerial Performance Review Retreat on Monday.

Governor Sanwo-olu stated that COVID-19 is not an excuse for non-performance as the people of the state will not take such as an excuse.

He therefore charged the members of his cabinet and other senior officials in his administration to “heighten the tempo of good governance and continue to create opportunities through innovative policies”.

According to him, no matter the challenges or the circumstances, the commitment to fulfill their campaign promises should be unwavering.

Sanwo-olu therefore reminded his cabinet members that their performance accessment is not based on the figures of amount spent but the impact felt by the citizens.

He said; “the yardstick for performance assessment will not be based majorly on the amount of money expended but on the outcome of our various interventions and impact on the lives of the citizens that we swore to serve.”

“A promise we made at the inception of our administration and in line with the principle of continuity was to ensure the completion of projects inherited from the last administration. A significant part of our efforts and resources has been devoted towards fulfilling this promise.” He concluded.
