The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had confirmed the resumption of schools in the state earlier scheduled for September 21 as he gives new directives.
The governor, in a tweet via his official twitter handle reteriated that secondary school students in the state shall resume by Monday, 21st of September.
He also stated that only the SSS2 students and JSS 3 students in public schools across the state are to resume by Monday for physical classes.
Meanwhile, he advised private school owners to devise a more safer way in their plan for resumption in the state.
The tweet reads partly;
“As we continue to open up the state and economy, today, I announced that students in JSS3 and SSS2 in all public schools in Lagos should resume physical classes for the new academic session from September 21, 2020.
“We encourage private school owners to consider staggered classes and alternate school days for their students. In the same vein, gyms and cinemas are allowed to open at 33% of their capacity while also ensuring all safety protocols are put in place for patrons.”
Sanwo-olu also confirmed the reopening of cinemas, spas and other recreational centres in the state.
Similarly, the governor also ordered reopening of churches and mosques for daily and mid-week services.
The tweet reads further;
“I also announced further ease of restrictions on places of worships. Churches and mosques can perform daily prayers and mid-week services.
“We are happy about the downward trend in reported cases of #COVID19 and we urge Lagosians to continue to follow all safety protocols.”
The COVID-19 pandemic had prompted the closure of point and occasions that brings people together in masses, which the NCDC said to be of high risk in the spread of the respiratory virus.
The closure which began at the juvenile stage of Nigeria COVID-19 pandemic is being relieved as the infectious rate keep declining and the government devising safer means to fully reopen all sectors.
