In a bid to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) plan in Oyo state, the government of the state has solicited for the support of the 33 Local government chairmen in the state.
The head of the state’s SDGs who doubles as the Senior Special Assistant to the governor of the state on SDGs, Hon. Kunle Yusuff has called of the local government chairmen for active collaboration towards achieving the SDGs goals.
He also challenged the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters on the need to play a pivotal role on the developmental projects of the SDGs through the NEEDs assessment exercise.
Yusuff made the call on Friday at a meeting with the caretaker Chairmen and the Hon. Commissioner for Local Government and and Chieftaincy Matters, where he reiterated that out of the 17 SDGs, four are in line with the four major pillars which the current administration is resting upon.
He noted that the SDGs office will facilitate a training for the caretaker chairmen and key officers of the local governments so as to have basic knowledge of the activities of the SDGs.
He further implored the caretaker chairmen to play a primary role in the SDGs activities by coordinating the people in their communities during the NEEDs assessment exercise.
