The fight against gender based violence in Nigeria is getting hotter as the leadership is taking every possible steps to end the barbaric acts.
Kaduna State is another state of the federation who is taking cognizance move to end the incessant occurrence of rape in the state as it approves castration for all offenders.
In a report by today.ng, the Kaduna State House of Assembly has approved a full surgical operation a punishment for Rape offenders apprehended in the state and awaits governor’s approval.
Speaking on the decision, the state’s Commissioner for women’s affairs and social development, Hafsat Baba described the house’s approval as a welcomed development, adding that is will serve as a deterrent for rapists.
The bill is set to become law in the state upon the signature of the State governor, Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai.
Recall that in June, Nigerian governors declared a state of emergency over rape and violence against women and children in the country.
The number of successful prosecutions of rape suspects remains low and stigma often prevents victims from reporting incidents.
