Arsenal showcased their fighting spirit in Saturday’s night win over the Hammers at the Emirates Stadium.
They have been in high spirits over the weeks, but their performance in the match against a compact Westham side was evident of urgent reinforcement in midfield.
Arteta’s side was excellent in their last match against Fulham and even in their previous games against Liverpool in the FA Community Shield and Chelsea in the FA Cup final in Wembley Stadium London.
The Gunners have spent the summer looking to reinforce their midfield, with Thomas Partey of Atletico Madrid and Huseem Aour their prime targets.
In the Westham game, it clearly shows why the Head Coach is adamant and keen to add his options in the middle of the park. Mikel Arteta said after the game;
“I thought it was a game where we were going to attack the spaces and the way they defended; we wanted to create some situations with Ceballos there. But if we can strengthen the team then we’re going to try and do that. Until the market is gone, everything is still open.
“Depending on what happens with some other players, we are open to discussions. The market can surprise us, teams can come for any of our players in different positions and we have to react, like it happened with Martinez, so let’s see what happens.”
The Emirates side continue to rebuild under The Spaniard, beating a Westham side though played poorly is an indicator of it.
Adding a player of Aour’s ability would give the team more dimension in the attacking area while Partey would offer some stability to the central areas.
