Super Rat Makes History, Bags PDSA Medal

A rat named Magawa bags a gold medal in Cambodia, the mini-gold medal is being awarded for animal bravery.

The African brave rat use its big nose to sniff out dozens of dangerous and treacherous landmines in Cambodia.

The rodent received the People’s Disciplinary for Sick Animals(PDSA) gold medal on September 25, 2020. The medal is the animal equivalent to the George Cross that is the joint highest award in the United Kingdom Honours System.

Magawa, the Super clever nocturnal creature has sniffed out 39 unexploded landmines and 28 munitions over the last four years.

The rat’s work have saved many lives in Cambodia, where conflicts ranging from decades have left the country littered with forgotten dangerous explosives that can lead to destruction of its citizens without a warning signal.
