– President Buhari approves investigative panel
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, receives the governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on the nationwide call to end the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS).
The meeting follows the governor’s visit to one of the Lagos state #EndSARS protest ground in Alausa, where the governor received their petition letter and promised to present it to the president.
In several tweets after the meeting, governor Sanwo-olu revealed the purpose of the meeting which was to present the petition to the president.
He further disclosed the commitment of president Buhari to reform the entire police force.
The governor tweeted; “Today, I met President @MBuhari to present the demands of the Lagos #EndSARS protesters.
“The President restated his commitment to embark on a holistic reform of the entire Police Force.”
President Buhari approves investigative panel
In the same vein, president Buhari has approved a panel to investigate all reports of abuse by the police operatives, the governor disclosed.
The committee, according to governor Sanwo-olu, is comprising of leaders of civil society organizations across the country.
The tweet reads further; “Just today, the President has approved a panel made up of Civil Society leaders to look at all the cases of abuse by the police.
“The benefits of this genuine protest will be fully realized and I will continue to work to defend the rights of all Lagosians any and everyday.”
