The Real Madrid Player who rejoined Tottenham during the Summer transfer after spending seven years at the Santiago Bernabeu.
His Real Madrid teammate Luka Modric was in his defense, saying the Welshman never had issues at the club, both in the dressing room. The Croatian urged the Spanish capital fans to remember what Gareth accomplished at the club.
The Welsh International returned to the North London based club, Tottenham in September on a season long loan with option to renew.
The 31-year old’s time at the Santiago Bernabeu turned from sweet to sour at the end of his contract, as he was out of favour with head coach Zinedine Zidane.
However, Modric defended Bale whom he played with at Spurs Stadium saying he fit in well with his team mates.
In his interview with COPE, he said; “I have been well with Gareth most of my professional life and he is a spectacular guy, he is shy, similar to me.
“What is said about him is not fair, they judge him in recent years but what he has done at Madrid is something impressive and he will always be remembered as a player who has done a lot for the club.
The Midfield maestro also added that, “He has never had any problems in the dressing room, he is a great guy. He spoke Spanish, he joked with us.
“In recent years many things have come out and they have forgotten what he has done. When time passes they will remember him and how important he has been.
“Every person has their own behaviour. He was like that, he didn’t associate much, but in the dressing room he was very good. It makes me sad that everything he has done has been forgotten in the last year.”
Gareth Bale who is yet to make an appearance for his new team Tottenham because of injury, will be hoping to prove critics wrong when he finally gets to play in a Tottenham jersey.
