‘CLOUDS’ The Movie renews interest of the Inspirational Song

The late Zach Sobiech’s “Clouds” is once again a hit following the release of Clouds Movie. The single sung in 2012 returned to the top of the iTunes chart over the weekend and is expected to hit the Billboard singles chart once again.

The sudden renew interest of the  inspirational song was due to the movie with the same name that was released on Disney+ on Friday. It’s based on the memoir “Fly a Little Higher: How God Answered a Mom’s Small Prayer in a Big Way,” written by Zach Sobiech’s mother, Laura.

Sobiech, a Lakeland teenager, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare kind of bone cancer, in 2012.

He recorded “Clouds” on December 14, 2012  as a way to say goodbye to his friends and family and posted it to YouTube.

By the time of Sobiech’s death in May at the age of 18, “Clouds” had gone worldwide and earned more than 3 million views.

“Clouds” made it all the way to No. 3 on Billboard’s hot rock songs chart and found success in majorly all the music Hotspot Countries like Canada, France, England, Belgium and Switzerland.

It also inspired many number of cover versions and a tribute video featuring more than 30 stars lip syncing to the song, including Jason Mraz, Colbie Caillat, Sara Bareilles, the Lumineers and Jason Derulo.

At the end of the video, Mraz had this to say; “Thank you Zach. You’ve written a great song, dude. It’s a real pleasure to sing it, and sing it with you. Thank you.”

The Movie “Clouds” was initially set to be released to theaters, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Warner Bros. sold it to Disney for its streaming service.

It since then  earned warm reviews, with a Variety critic writing that it “flirts with the generic, but has a heart and soul in pretty much the right place.”

The proceeds  from the song benefit the Zach Sobiech Osteosarcoma Fund, which has raised more than $2 million to research treatments for the cancer.
