The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Babatunde Kokumo, has issued a 7-day ultimatum to hoodlums who seized the opportunity of the nationwide #EndSARS demonstrations to perpetrate their heinous deeds.
Hoodlums in Edo State hijacked the #EndSARS protest in the state and stole arms, ammunition and other items.
Speaking through the state’s Police Public Relations Offi er, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, on Monday, the Commissioner of Police promised handsome rewards for anyone who could aid the arrest of these criminals by supplying useful information.
He also declared that the seven-day ultimatum took effect from November 9.
It was noted that seven police stations were looted and razed in Edo, while the Maximum Correctional Centre on Sapele Road and Oko Medium Correctional Centre on Airport Road were attacked by hoodlums who hijacked the protests, leading to the escape of 1,993 inmates.
Edo police commissioner said, “The criminal elements must return within seven days, with effect from November 9, 2020, the police and other security agencies’ arms, ammunition and other items looted during the attacks on government and private facilities in Edo State, in the guise of #EndSARS protests.”
