ASUU Strike: We Are Still Making Consultation – Ogunyemi

…I cannot say how long the consultation will take…

The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), yesterday disclosed that the union is still making consultations to determine when to call of the strike.

Prof. Ogunyemi disclosed this while responding to questions of when the union will call off the strike from newsmen.

The scholar disclosed that the consultation might go beyond this week, however, the precise date is yet unknown.

He said; “As for how long the consultation would take, I cannot say but it may go beyond this week. Whatever we decide on is definitely going to be in national interest, the interest of our children, the interest of our members and the good of all.”

Moreover, ASUU is set to return to their weekly meeting with the Federal Government’s negotiation team, led by the Labour minister.

It is expected that ASUU will give response on when to call off the 9-month-old strike, but it however doesn’t seems feasible.

ASUU had earlier agreed to call off the lingering strike after accepting N70 billion from the federal government, and the agreement to remove the university lecturers from the IPPIS.
