The immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TY Buratai, today handed over the mantle of leadership to the new Chief of Army Staff, Major General I. Attahiru.
The transition follows the appointment earlier made by the president and the commander-in-chief of the armed forces of Nigeria, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd.), replacing all service chiefs.
President Muhammadu Buhari, in the appointment, announced Major General Attahiru as the new chief of Army Staff to take over from Buratai.
Buratai who has spent five years as the general commander of the army, has thus been retired as the chief of Army Staff.
Subsequently, Buratai, at the Nigerian Army Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, officially hand over the affairs of Army to his successor, Gen. Attahiru.
